Hi,

I am a 1st engineering student who is wishing to push his degree towards mechatronics. I want controll over sensors actuators etc, with the option of advancing to having LCD graphical displays, and internet connectivity so that logs etc can be sent to internet site, but I also want control from a computer. I.e send certain parameters to the microntroller, and read things back to computer screen.

I am sound a c programming, and would like to continue using this (or c++) for microcontrollers. So that I can make computer applications that interact with the c/c++ programmed microcontroller.

I am a student as mentioned so budget is quite tight, but has anyone got a good idea as to which "kit" or something would be a good one to get so that I dont get annoyed trying to set it up, but I can advance really as far as i like?

Thnanks

Alex

Welcome again a.mlw.walker

In my personal aspect, 8051 is suitable for studying 8-bit uC. If you want to develop the larger applications,  you must be interested in 32-bit uC. ARM is 32-bit RISC processor which is widely used now in embedded applications.
